Viktor, wie am ersten Tag verknallt in seine hübsche Frau Lu, arbeitet in einer Schallplattenfabrik. Eines Tages macht er eine abfällige Bemerkung über seinen Chef und wird dazu verdonnert, in der Abteilung zu arbeiten, die von Kunden Schallplattenaufnahmen macht, die diese dann nach Hause mitnehmen können. Da die meisten Kunden unzufrieden mit der Qualität ihrer Aufnahme sind, geht Viktor dazu über, ihnen in Wirklichkeit Aufnahmen bekannter Sänger mitzugeben. Doch dann zerbricht die Schallplatte für Schneidermeister Zirbelschuh, der sich für einen begnadeten Tenor hält. Viktor besingt die Scheibe selbst, und die Aufnahme wird so gut, dass Zirbelschuh von Viktors Chef einen Schallplattenvertrag erhält.  

Viktor, who has a crush on his pretty wife Lu, just like the very first day he met her, works in factory making phonograph records.  One day, he makes a snide remark about his boss and is condemned to work in the department, which makes recordings of customers that they can then take home.  Since most of the customers are unsatisfied with the quality of their recordings, Viktor decides the best thing to do would be to pass off recordings of a famous singer as being the voice of the customer.  But then, master tailor Zirbelschuh’s record breaks … and he thinks he’s a gifted tenor.  Viktor records himself singing to replace the broken record and the recording is so good, that Zirbelschuh receives a recording contract from Viktor’s boss.
