Merkwürdiger Mord in einem Hotel in den bayrischen Bergen: Mitten in der überfüllten Bar wird ein pensionierter Staatsanwalt aus Chicago erschossen. Peter Holm, Kriminalreporter einer Tageszeitung, der sich gerade mit seiner jungen Frau auf Hochzeitsreise in dem Hotel befindet, schaltet sich in die Ermittlungen ein. Zuerst wird der Sekretär des Ermordeten verdächtigt, doch dann findet Holm im Zimmer des Staatsanwalts die Leiche des Sekretärs – und gerät selbst in höchste Gefahr!  

A strange murder has taken place at a hotel in the Bavarian Alps  (in contrast to a “normal” murder):  In the middle of a crowded bar, a retired prosecutor from Chicago is shot.  Peter Holm, crime reporter for a newspaper, who just happens to be at the hotel with his young wife on their honeymoon, decides to play the dick and investigate (mmmm … “dick”, as in “detective”).  At first, he suspects the secretary of the murdered man; but then the secretary has the nerve to challenge his superior skills at sniffing out criminals by showing up dead in the prosecutor’s room!  Now, the nosy reporter is in real danger … of  getting fired and having to work for a tabloid, no doubt.

THERE IS A NEWSREEL ALONG WITH THE FILM, JUST AS GERMAN AUDIENCES MIGHT HAVE SEEN WHEN THE MOVIE WAS FIRST SHOWN (except this newsreel may not be contemporary to when the film was released).
