Instigated by the mine's former engineer Kubota, Eikichi demands what he considers his fair share from Zenbei, but Zenbei replies that he will only give Eikichi money, if he sells his sister Kaoru to him. Mizuhara confronts Zenbei, who also happens to be the father of his fellow student Ryūichi, with what he considers an insolent proposal. As it turns out, Zenbei, who was a friend of Eikichi's and Kaoru's father, wants to spare Kaoru the fate of living the life of a travelling musician.

When socialite Callie Brooks decides to divorce her husband Henry, she cheerfully announces her decision at one of the regular weekend house parties given at her Sands Point, New York home. Callie's friend, Helen Robinson, immediately congratulates her on the clever stunt and wishes that she could be as original in finding a way to leave her husband, Joe. Though Helen applauds Callie's announcement, Connie Mills, another guest, tells her husband Jack that she finds the casual treatment of divorce distasteful. While Joe falls ill and retreats to the library, Helen joins her playboy paramour, Tony Minot, on the balcony, where she tells him that their affair must come to an end because their love has "gone cold." Later, Joe accuses Helen of ignoring his needs and being more than just a golfing parter to Tony. Joe's suspicions of Tony also lead him to inform Jack that the rou is after Connie as well. Jack quickly dismisses the thought and expresses his confidence that Connie will remain faithful to him. When Jack's car breaks down, Tony drives the Millses home and joins them for a nightcap. While Jack mixes their drinks in the kitchen, Tony tries to woo Connie, but she resists him and reassures him that she loves her husband. Jack realizes that Tony's sole interest in his home is his wife, so with Connie's approval, he throws him out. On his way out, Tony accuses Jack of cheating on Connie when he had an affair with a Follies girl. Connie overhears the charge, but she believes Jack when he tells her that he is innocent.
THE SOLITAIRE MAN (1933): The Solitaire Man is a renowned jewel their who is ready to retire and marry Helen, his partner in crime and his one true love. A so-called sales representative named Azad carries out a burglary --- with the help of his friends Ralph, Renzi and H l ne --- at the home of wealthy Mr. Tasco, in Athens. They neutralize the villa's guard and then, thanks to their ultra-sophisticated electronic equipment and valuable information obtained by H l ne, who previously had been employed as a decorator, manage to open the safe and steal a sumptuous collection of emeralds. Abel Zacharia, a police officer who happens to pass in front of the villa spots the thugs' car parked nearby and is then alerted by a noise. Azad leaves the villa and fakes a car breakdown. The police officer hardly believes this version of the facts, but lets the burglar go. In fact, partly disgusted by the contemptuous attitude of the Tasco couple towards him and towards money, Zacharia will want to recover the emerald collection for his own account. The tale begins in mid-16th century Flanders when Spain ruled the area. A peasant revolt is in progress and a gang of rebels is seen lugging the giant head of a statue onto Nettelneck's farm. Just then, the Spanish arrive and only one rebel survives their attack. The rebel makes love to the farmer's wife and then leave. She later bears a son. A few years later, this boy, who is ostracized by the community, meets Campanelli, an Italian minstrel who claims to have witnessed the massacre and the boy's creation. He then fancifully spins a yarn about the curious lad's father, telling him that his father lives and helms a fabulous ship. He also tells the boy his father can fly. The boy grows up believing this and eventually takes his lover Lotte to begin searching for his mystical father.

Engineer Jim Ripple invents universal robots to help workers, being himself from a workers' family. He theorizes that cheap production will make all goods so cheap, that Capitalism will fall. The workers do not share his view and his family considers him a traitor. A key element of his invention is a high-capacity capacitor that powers the robots. The government becomes interested in the invention, because the robots can be used as a weapon as well. Ripple is given a top secret factory and funding so that he can produce robots. The robots are controlled either by radio or by sound, for which purpose Ripple uses a saxophone. On the day of a universal workers' strike, the administration of a factory where the Ripple's brother works, located in the same town where the robot producing plant is located, replaces workers with robots. A workers' delegation visits the factory to see that there are no strike breakers, and finds that actually it is the robots who work.

They have no idea that their aunt is enjoying excellent health and just wanted to test how her family felt about her. Rů ena Naskov plays the lonely aging woman, waiting for the return of the only love of her life, on whose mature acting skills the entire comedy is based.
Aegeon of Syracuse has come to Ephesus to seek his son, who went in search of his missing twin and mother months ago. Mutterlied is a singer-film, in which the melodramatic life of an opera star on the stage mixes with the life of everyday people. The singer Ettore Vanni married the young opera singer Fiamma without knowing that she s been carrying on with a colleague named Doret, who is also the real father of her son. When Doret, who isn t able to give up on Fiamma even after she gets married, is found shot dead in her dressing room, naturally suspicion falls on Fiamma, who ends up getting arrested and thrown in jail.

Happy-go-lucky Anni works as a ticket saleslady at the Wallensteinplatz subway station. Hans, who is constantly late, works as a pilot for the postal authorities. One day, Hans is in such a hurry, that he gets on the train and tells Anni, he'll pay her later. Anni is outraged and has to pay the fare out of her own pocket. Nevertheless, the two of them fall in love with one another; but because they have such different work schedules, they're only able to see one another for a few minutes in the morning and again for a few minutes in the evening. When Hans finally loses his job because of his constant tardiness, Anni manages to get him a job flying an advertising plane for a cigarette company. Hans gets jealous of Anni's connection to the firm's director and Anni thinks their relationship is pretty much over. But Hans comes to his senses and writes "I love you" in the sky with his plane. Newly graduated veterinarian Gabriela is amazed after visiting the once blooming Sonnenhof of her grandfather (Wilhelm von Hubner) for the first time after a four year absence. The property is totally run down and the banks are threatening to collect on the mortgages her grandfather took out. Wilhelm, to put it briefly, is on the verge of ruin. The reason for all this is quickly revealed: since the new manager (Fred Schantl) has been working at Sonnenhof, things have been going downhill at a rapid pace. What's strange, though, is that granddaddy's been turning a blind eye to all of this. When Gabriela wants to talk to him about it, he has only one thing in mind: sending the little nosy thing away. But Gabriela's not one to take a hint too quickly. You see, she inherited half the property and has no interest in seeing it go to ground. Gabriela forces grandpa to divide up the property and employs the sawmill engineer Andreas Liebmann to manage her part of it. Soon, she falls in love with the emigre from Canada and after a short time, her part of Sonnenhof starts to blossom again. Umso merkw rdiger ist es, dass der gestandene Bauer vor all dem die Augen verschlie t. Als Gabriela mit dem Gro vater reden will, m chte der seine Enkelin am liebsten wieder fortschicken. Von H bner will den unf higen Schantl entlassen, doch der droht damit, ein lange geh tetes Geheimnis ans Licht zu bringen.

At a chance meeting later on a Palace Radziwill in Berlin, Wilhelm listens entranced to Elisa s singing. Nur auf der R ckreise darf er kurz auf dem schlesischen Schlo der Radziwills in Ruhberg vorbeischauen. Wieder verbringen die Liebenden gl ckliche Stunden, was den K nig veranla t, das sofortige Ende dieser Beziehung zu verlangen.
