THE THICK-WALLED ROOM (1953):
Among the first Japanese films to deal directly with the scars of World War II, this drama about a group of rank-and-file Japanese soldiers jailed for crimes against humanity was adapted from the diaries of real prisoners. Because of the inflammatory content, the film was shelved by the studio for three years before being released.

THE LADY AND THE LUMBERJACK (1935):
He's a rough and tough lumberjack, head of the crew, and defender of the mountain they take the trees off from the other crew. She's a local woman, very pretty and very ladylike. Of course, they fall in love, but his crew is composed of comic actors, and here comes the new guy, appointed by the head office, to take over the operation....
