In 1963, the Frankfurt Auschwitz trial — conducted over twenty months until 1965 against twenty SS perpetrators in Frankfurt am Main — marked the opening of what was, up to that point, the largest jury trial in the history of the Federal Republic’s justice system. Never before had so many survivors (211 individuals) of the central extermination camp been able to testify in such detail to the truth and reality of Auschwitz; nor had such an authentic picture of the National Socialist persecution of the Jews been presented to the world prior to the trial. Scarcely any other historical example illustrates more clearly the perfidious terror system of the SS and the methodology and systematic nature of total domination.

1963 wurde mit dem Frankfurter Auschwitz-Prozeß (in 20 Monaten bis 1965) gegen 20 SS-Verbrecher in Frankfurt am Main der bis dahin größte Schwurgerichtsprozeß der bundesdeutschen Justizgeschichte eröffnet. Niemals zuvor haben so viele Überlebende (211 Personen) des zentralen Vernichtungslagers eingehender die Wahrheit und Wirklichkeit von Auschwitz bezeugen können, wurde ein so authentisches Bild der nationalsozialistischen Judenverfolgung der Welt vor Augen geführt. Das perfide Terrorsystem der SS, die Methodik und Systematik totaler Herrschaft, macht kaum ein anderes historisches Beispiel klarer.
