There are many things in this movie that do not make much sense.
A count's daughter is supposed to marry a guy she has apparently never met - just like in the Middle Ages - but falls for his short and less good-looking friend instead.
Meanwhile, said friend falls for a gypsy woman - who doesn't look gypsy at all and sings while riding in the back of a wagon.
Perhaps most bizarre of all, he sticks with the gypsy even after seeing Charlott Daudert.....
