GLEISDREIECK (1936)

Gustav Fröhlich, Heli Finkenzeller and Paul Hoffmann
$9.99

A conductor on the U-Bahn, Hans Scheffer, rescues a young girl, who, in the very last second, wants to throw herself in front of an oncoming train.  As nothing brings a couple closer to each other than an unsucessful suicide attempt, they, of course, fall in love and talk about marriage (prior to the next suicide attempt, of course).  Hans' father is absolutely against the idea.  He is an old workhorse at the Berlin U-Bahn.  Hans' newfound lover, Gerda Volkmann, has a brother with a criminal past and he's now sitting in Plotzensee Prison for theft.  For that reason, Hans' father thinks his future daughter-in-law and her family are scum.  When Gerda leaves Hans' apartment after a fight with his father, her brother suddenly turns up after having been let out of prison.  Once more, he needs money.  And true to the opinion of Hans' father, he spots some money in Hans' apartment, sticks it in his pocket and takes off.  The money, however, belongs to the U-Bahn's sportsclub and Hans is supposed to turn it over the next day.  What is he going to do now?!?
