Militärkomödie nach Jaroslav Hasek: Sehr zum Missfallen des Fleischermeisters Schwejk hat sein Söhnchen Josef mit dem Soldatenleben nichts am Hut und möchte viel lieber bei seinen geliebten Hunden bleiben. Aber als eines Tages der Einberufungsbescheid auf den Tisch flattert, bleibt ihm nichts anderes übrig, als in die Kaserne einzuziehen. Dort wird ihm der Aufenthalt im Knast bald zur lieben Gewohnheit, bis ihn der fesche Oberleutnant Gustl zu seinem Burschen macht.

A military comedy based on the work of Jaroslav Hasek:  Much to the annoyance of the butcher Schwejk, his son Josef would rather have nothing to do with military life, but would prefer to stay at home with his beloved dogs.  But, when one day, the draft notice lands on the kitchen table, there’s nothing else for him to do than to march off to the barracks.  It’s not long before he’s spending a good deal in the barracks’ jail until dashing First Lieutenant Gustl makes him him “his boy”.
