Ship's physician Dr. Schumacher dreams of a little vacation at a spa, where one can slip out of one's everyday skin and really get some distance from all one's obligations. When he tells this to an American CEO by the name of Stevenson, the latter gets "sick". Dr. Schumacher mentions a Castle Aich, where the CEO's divorced, young wife Florentine often stays as a guest of her aunt. As Stevenson would like to see her again, he gives the doctor a check, so the physician can make his dream come true at the castle. Accompanying the doctor, Stevenson now has a reason to visit the castle, too ... and to see his former wife. The castle spa is doing well and Stevenson's hopes of seeing Florentine again are fulfilled ... and it doesn't hurt he's made friends with little Nicki. He doesn't realize, however, that bright little Nicki is his son, a fact Florentine wishes to keep from him at all costs. Only when he takes the kid up in a helicopter for a birthday ride does he realize who the boy is. That only convinces him the divorce was a big mistake and he's now hot to re-marry his ex-wife. However, there are just a few problems with that.

Schiffsarzt Dr. Schumacher träumt von einem Sanatorium, in dem man für einige Wochen aus der Alltagshaut schlüpfen und wirklich Abstand von allen seinen Verpflichtungen gewinnen kann. Als er seine Lieblingsidee dem amerikanischen Konzernchef Stevenson erzählt, wird dieser hellhörig. Dr. Schumacher hat nämlich den Namen von Schloss Aich erwähnt, wo Stevensons geschiedene junge Frau Florentine häufig bei ihrer Tante zu Gast ist. Da Stevenson Florentine gern einmal wieder sehen würde, gibt er dem Arzt kurz entschlossen einen Scheck, damit Dr. Schumacher seinen Wunschtraum auf Schloss Aich verwirklichen kann. So hat Stevenson schließlich einen Grund, um dort selber einmal nach dem Rechten - und nach Florentine - zu sehen. Das Sanatorium floriert schon bald. Auch Stevensons Hoffnung, Florentine wieder zu sehen, erfüllt sich; überdies schließt er dort rasch Freundschaft mit dem kleinen Nicki. Er ahnt allerdings nicht, dass der aufgeweckte Junge sein Sohn ist, was Florentine ihm unbedingt verheimlichen möchte. Erst bei einem Geburtstagsausflug im Hubschrauber kommt Stevenson dahinter, wer Nicki wirklich ist, und das überzeugt ihn endgültig davon, dass die Scheidung seinerzeit vorschnell war. Am liebsten würde er Florentine gleich wieder heiraten, aber da gibt es einige Probleme.
