Bank director Torwald is distressed to learn that the fim of his deceased friend, Junker & Son, is doing poorly. Creditors are not being paid, because Fred Junker, the son in “Junker & Son”, knows more about living the high life than conducting a business. When Fred puts up his motorboat for sale, Torwald comes up with an idea. Because he doesn’t know Fred, he sends his daughter Veronica to the boat house to find out something about the boy. But instead, the two fall head over heels with each other, which the father is not at all happy about. He demands Fred marry his daughter. Veronica is furious and refuses to marry, even though she’s now expecting a child.

Mit Sorge stellt Bankdirektor Torwald fest, dass es der Firma seines verstorbenen Freundes, Junker & Sohn, schlecht geht. Kredite können nicht bezahlt werden, weil Sohn Fred Junker nichts vom Geschäft, dafür aber umso mehr vom süßen Leben versteht. Als Fred sein Motorboot zum Verkauf anbietet, kommt Torwald auf eine Idee. Weil er den jungen Mann nicht kennt, schickt er seine Tochter Veronika ins Bootshaus, um ihn etwas auszukundschaften.Doch die beiden verlieben sich Hals über Kopf ineinander, was dem Vater nicht entgeht. Er fordert Fred auf, seine Tochter zu heiraten, und der lässt sich nicht zweimal bitten, als er von der guten Partie erfährt. Veronika ist empört und verweigert die Heirat, obwohl sie ein Kind erwartet.
