ALTE KAMERADEN (Das Fähnlein der Versprengten) (1934)

Ralph Arthur Roberts, Hans Adalbert Schlettow and Eduard Wesener, Fred Sauer
$9.99

On a lonely and neglected farm, a reclusive scholar lives with his son, a mentally-ill baron, and a retired lieutenant colonel.  One day, the colonel's daughter arrives from America suddenly and has brought along an up and coming artist.  And with her visit, life on the farm is turned hilariously upside down.  Eventually, everyone finds a purpose in life and work and is happy  (no mean feat in Depression-Era Germany or elsewhere in the world, for that matter).  With phrases about the nobility of work, the needs of the time, social justice and the emphasis on familial harmony and happiness, this comedy subtly embodied the principles of the new National Socialist government, which came to power shortly before the release of this film.

DVD-R IS IN GERMAN WITH NO SUBTITLES.  EXCELLENT QUALITY.  APPROX. 82 MINS.
