Young Friedel Bornemann wants to make a career being an hotel clerk. To this end, she disguises herself as a boy and presents herself at the fine Dalmasse-Hotel using the papers of Friedrich Petersen, the son of her landlady, who recently went off to sea. She promptly becomes the first page in the elegant hotel and it doesn’t take long for her to get to know everyone and everything. When the gallant gentleman Herr von Dahlen shows up later as a hotel guest, Friedel is overcome with joy: von Dahlen is the man of her dreams. But von Dahlen isn’t gay, so how’s it supposed to work out between Friedel, dressed as a boy, and the attractive von Dahlen?

Die junge Friedel Bornemann will Karriere als Hotelangestellte machen. Zu diesem Zweck verkleidet sie sich kurzerhand als Junge und stellt sich mit den Papieren des seit kurzem zur See fahrenden Sohnes ihrer Vermieterin unter dessen Namen, Friedrich Petersen, im feinen Dalmasse-Hotel vor. Prompt wird sie erster Page in dem eleganten Haus, und es dauert nicht lange, bis sie mit allen Angestellten Bekanntschaft gemacht hat und über alles Bescheid weiß. Als wenig später der galante Herr von Dahlen als Hotelgast angekündigt wird, ist Friedel kaum zu bremsen vor Freude: von Dahlen ist der Mann ihrer Träume.
