Operettenhafte Komödie über den Streit zweier verfeindeter Fantasiestaaten: Die Länder Perlonien und Bananien liegen in einem noch unentdeckten Erdteil namens Fantasien. Bei Perlonien handelt es sich um einen Industriestaat, während Bananien seinen Namen von seinem landwirtschaftlichen Haupterzeugnis bekam. Das Problem ist, dass beide Staaten die Produkte des jeweils anderen Landes benötigen. Eigentlich wäre das kein Problem, würden nicht Souveränitäts- und Zollprobleme zu einem scheinbar unüberwindbaren Zerwürfnis führen.

Operatic comedy about a conflict between two hostile fantasy states:  The countries Perlonien and Bananien are located on an undiscovered continent known as Fantasy.  Perlonien is an industrial land while Bananien got its name based on its chief agricultural product.  The problem is that each country needs the products of the other.  Actually, it really wouldn’t be a problem at all, if sovereignty and customs policies hadn’t led to an apparently insurmountable rift.
