The horns under a hat and his hooves hidden under well-ironed pants and shiny shoes, the Devil pays a visit to Earth. He gets his jollies out of making people chase after money and instead finding misfortune. He's distressed, however, to find three homeless bums making no attempt to get wealthy. So he makes it so they find a lost wallet, which he places in front of them. He then implants a dream in their minds, which advises them to gamble the money on a number which will make them rich. The results are not exactly what they ... or you ... would expect.

Die Hörner unter dem Hut, den Pferdefuß im steif gebügelten Hosenbein versteckt, besucht der Teufel die Welt. Er freut sich, dass der Tanz ums Goldene Kalb oder – besser – die Jagd nach immer mehr Geld die Menschen umtreibt und unglücklich macht. Zu seinem eigenen Vergnügen will er ein weiteres Exempel statuieren: Vor den Landstreichern Barbarossa, Clown und Dürst, die sich als Lebenskünstler auf einer Parkbank sonnen, lässt der Teufel eine Geldbörse fallen. Überdies sucht er sie im Traum heim. Er nennt ihnen die Glückszahl, mit der sie beim Roulette in Konstanz reich werden können.
