Kroneberger, Besitzer des "Rebelochs", und sein Sohn Schorch wissen nicht mehr ein noch aus. Da erhalten sie die Nachricht, dass die Erbin ihres verstorbenen Gläubigers, des Besitzers des "Eberbacher Hofs", ihnen ihre Hypothekenschuld gekündigt hat. Kroneberger sieht die einzige Rettung in einer Heirat Schorchs mit Lenchen, der Tochter des Metzgers Unkelbach.

Kroneberger, the owner of the "Rebelochs" and his son Schorsch don't know where to turn. They have just received the news, that the inheritor to their dead creditor, the owner of the "Eberbacher Hof", is calling in their mortgage. Kroneberg sees the only salvation in the marriage of Schorch with Lenchen, the daughter of the butcher, Unkelbach.
