When the young secretary Lena Rodien inherits “Larchenhof” from an aunt, she’s not all too thrilled, for she must invest money in the estate and seek out someone to fix it up. And so she decides to “get to know” the estate very well, but, of course, not as the heiress. With a letter written by herself, she shows up for duty at the estates as Elisabeth Ponholzer. The young manager of the estate, Lex Brandner, finds it rather amusing that, instead of coming herself, the heiress has sent such a young and inexperienced thing in her place. Nevetherless, Lena learns a lot from him about the estate and the two become friends.

Als die junge Sekretärin Lena Rodien von einer Tante den "Lärchenhof" erbt, ist sie gar nicht so glücklich, denn sie muss Geld hineinstecken und sucht einen Fachmann. Da beschließt sie, das Gut erst einmal gründlich kennen zu lernen, aber natürlich nicht als Erbin. Mit einem selbstverfassten Empfehlungsschreiben tritt sie als Elisabeth Ponholzer ihren Dienst auf "Lärchenhof" an. Der junge Verwalter Lex Brandner findet es recht amüsant, dass die Erbin, statt selbst zu kommen, ein so junges Ding schickt. Trotzdem erfährt Lena viel von ihm über das Gut, und die beiden freunden sich an.
