Thea, a beautiful and sought-after woman, has just tossed away all her money in a casino. Not only that, the hotel bill still has to be paid. So a deal is struck, whereby she'll play the role of the scandulous "great countess" in order to lure more guests to the hotel. But Thea would rather spend her nights on the road in the sports car of her admirer Dieter. They barely escape a collision with the vehicle of the lawyer Michael Jurgens, who has come to the hotel to pursuade his ward Dieter to drop his marital plans. A spark develops between the two acquaintances and they spend the night together in a castle. The next morning, however, Thea has disappeared. It is only in the hotel that the lawyer sees Thea again and immediately senses that she is his ward's love interest. Nevertheless, Michael is prepared to export Thea abroad with the passport of a real countess, which the police prevent from happening.

Thea, eine schöne und umworbene Frau, hat im Casino ihr letztes Geld verspielt. Und auch die Hotelrechnung muss bezahlt werden, dass sie für einige Tage die skandalumwitterte "tolle Komtess" spielen soll, um weitere Gäste ins Hotel zu locken. Doch Thea zieht es vor, nachts mit dem Sportwagen ihres jungen Verehrers Dieter zu fliehen. Knapp entkommt sie einem Zusammenstoß mit dem Wagen des Rechtsanwalts Michael Jürgens, der im Hotel mit seinem Mündel Dieter verabredet ist, um diesen von seinen Heiratsplänen abzubringen. Aber auch zwischen den beiden Zufallsbekannten hat es gefunkt, und sie verbringen die Nacht gemeinsam auf einem Schloss. Doch am nächsten morgen ist Thea verschwunden. Erst im Hotel sehen sie sich wieder, und Michael spürt sofort, dass sie die Angebetete seines Mündels ist. Trotzdem ist er bereit, Thea mit dem Pass einer wirklichen Gräfin ins Ausland zu bringen, was die Polizei jedoch verhindert.
