Monica, the only daughter of Maximilian and Franze Holten, is engaged to the lawyer Thomas Hesse.  Mom is happy, because Thomas is a man just like Maximilian, her husband.  Thomas is given the delicate task of protecting the singer Alexandra from troublesome suitors by his new father-in-law.  The theatre director Rother is especially a pain in the ass.  But what interest does Holten have in Alexandra?  It turns out that Alexandra is his beloved, illegitimate child, something he is keeping secret from everyone.  Thomas is putting so much effort into protecting the young woman, that his fiancee is slowly starting to get uneasy.  Nevetheless, he can't betray her secret.

Monika, die einzige Tochter von Maximilian und Fränze Holten, verlobt sich mit dem Rechtsanwalt Thomas Hesse. Die Mutter ist glücklich, denn er ist ein Mann wie Maximilian, ihr Gatte. Vom Schwiegervater nun erhält er den delikaten Auftrag, die Sängerin Alexandra Durran gegen lästige Verehrer abzuschirmen. Besonders auffallend verhält sich da Theaterdirektor Rother.  Aber welches Interesse hat Holten selbst an Alexandra? Sie ist sein geliebtes uneheliches Kind – sein Geheimnis. Thomas bemüht sich so sehr um die junge Frau, dass seine Verlobte langsam unruhig wird. Aber er kann das Geheimnis nicht preisgeben.
