Tante Emilie betreut um die Jahrhundertwende ihre vier Nichten. Die älteste von ihnen hat sich in einen Schiffsarzt verliebt, der nach Südafrika fährt. Emilie aber will ihre Nichte mit ihrem Pflegesohn verheiraten. Der Plan misslingt durch den gutmütigen Onkel und dessen Sohn, die letztlich alle vier Mädchen glücklich unter die Haube bringen. 

At the turn of the 19^th into the 20^th Century, Aunt Emily is looking after her four nieces.  The oldest of them has fallen in love with a ship’s doctor, who’s sailing for South Africa.  Emily, however, wants to marry her to her foster son.  The plan fails thanks to the good-natured uncle and his son, who will eventually get all four girls to live happy lives in the near future.
