Monika Koch ist eine ebenso reizende wie temperamentvolle Tänzerin am Revuetheater. Als sie eines Abends zu spät im Theater erscheint, versucht sie, auf der Bühne zu improvisieren und verursacht dabei eine ungewollt komische Szene. Der Direktor ist empört und Monika wird kurzerhand entlassen. Als wäre das nicht genug, wird sie zu Hause von ihrem Vermieter erwartet, der sie wegen ausbleibender Mietzahlungen vor die Tür setzt. Als Retter in der Not erweist sich ihr Nachbar, der Ägyptologe Dr. Georg Nöhring. Er gewährt Monika Unterschlupf und – verlobt sich noch in der gleichen Nacht mit ihr! Als Georgs Freund Andreas, der seinen etwas naiven Kumpel gerne bevormundet, von der Sache hört, redet er ihm ins Gewissen, gar nicht erst zur geplanten Feier zu erscheinen.

A funny classic German picture of the Nazi period, but with no propaganda and with contemporary swing music.  The plot is about a chorus girl, Monica, who loses her job, because she's late and she owes the land lady room rent.  She get's kicked out, too; but Egyptologist, Dr. George Norring, rescues Monica and later pays the rent for her.  Within the short time, they are engaged.  She has also been rehired by her theater director, played by Aribert Wascher, thanks to the doctor.  They set an engagement party.  She invites her friend Helene, played by Mady Rahl and Papa Shmidtke, played by Paul Henckles.  But George's friend Andreas, played by Victor Staal, thinks she's a gold digger.  He tries to convince George of this.  He insists that George go with him on a ski vacation.  He resists, but by this time, the butler has canceled the party and informs Monica that he's not coming and is taking a ski trip. Dr. Norring forgets to tell Monica otherwise.  Monika goes to the train to give a piece of her mind only to discover that only his friend Andreas is on the train and she gets stuck having to wait till the next stop only to discover the next train is the next day.  Andreas insists that she go with him to change her mind about George.
