NOSFERATU (1922) (colorized):

Silent classic based on the horror novel "Dracula" by Bram Stoker. Thomas Hutter works in a real estate office in Wisborg and has a happy life with his wife. One day, his boss sends him on a business trip to Transylvania to sell property to Count Orlok ... property, which just happens to be across the street from Hutter and his beautiful, young bride. His wife Ellen has a bad premonition about the trip. She senses the danger her husband will be in, but can't dissuade him from the journey. Hutter meets the count for the first time late at night and gives him the contract to sign. When Hutter wakes up the next morning, he discovers red bite marks on his neck and slowly comes to realize the danger he's in. Orlok is a vampire. Hutter manages to escape from the locked castle after Orlok departs in a coffin for Germany. Hutter realizes the vampire will be taking up residence in the home facing his and fears for his wife. One day later on, a ship without a crew glides into Wisborg, bringing plague, death and ruination to the inhabitants of the city. All the dead bear the same marks on their necks. Ellen realizes what she must do to end this plague. She sacrifices herself to Orlok, but in doing so, causes the destruction of the vampire.

Ellen, seine Frau, ahnt nichts Gutes: Sie spürt die Gefahr, in die ihr Mann sich begibt, kann ihn aber nicht zurückhalten. Erst in der Nacht begegnet Hutter dem seltsamen Schlossherrn, und dieser unterzeichnet den Vertrag. Als er am nächsten Morgen im Schloss erwacht, entdeckt er kleine rote Male an seinem Hals und ahnt, welchem Grauen er gegenübersteht. Orlok ist ein Vampir. Hutter verlässt fluchtartig das Schloss, denn er hat Angst, dass das Ungeheuer auf dem Weg zu seiner Frau ist. Eines Tages legt ein führerloses Schiff in Wisborg an, dessen Fracht Pest, Tod und Verderben über die Bewohner bringt. Die Toten tragen alle die gleichen roten Male am Hals. Ellen erkennt diese Herausforderung, und um das unheilvolle Schicksal aufzuhalten, opfert sie sich und gibt sich dem Vampir hin. In den ersten Sonnenstrahlen des neuen Morgens löst sich Graf Orlok in Nichts auf.

VIY (1967):

A group of seminary students from the city drunkenly wander around the countryside during their summer leave. Getting lost, they end up spending the night in the company of a witch. A fight breaks out and one of the students, Khoma, murders the witch. In reality, however, he didn't kill a witch; just the beautiful daughter of a local landowner. Now he has to sit with her body for three days, protecting it from evil spirits.
