Felix Lombard is a photojournalist at a daily paper, but would much rather be a novelist. He meets and gets to know Lilli, the daughter of the manager of the publishing house, which prints the newspaper he works for, and immediately falls in love. To win her love, he writes and sends six letters to the place where she's vacationing, telling her how he's deeply involved in the writing of an exciting detective story. But in the seventh letter, he admits he made it all up.

Felix Lombard ist Fotoreporter bei einer Tageszeitung, wäre aber lieber gerne Schriftsteller. Gerade hat er Lilli kennen gelernt, die Tochter des Verlagsdirektors seiner Zeitung, und sich sofort in sie verliebt. Um die Angebetete für sich zu gewinnen, schreibt er ihr an ihren Ferienort sechs Briefe, in denen er schildert, wie er in eine aufregende Kriminalgeschichte verwickelt wird. Im siebten Brief gesteht er, dass alles nur erfunden war.
