Letzter Teil der "Sissi"-Trilogie. Erzherzogin Sophie hat sich immer noch nicht damit abgefunden, dass Sissi nunmehr Kaiserin von Österreich ist. Während dringende Staatsgeschäfte Franz Joseph in Wien festhalten, fährt Sissi nach Ungarn. Mit Unterstützung des ihr treu ergebenen Grafen Andrassy gelingt es Sissi, andere ungarische Adlige für die Donau-Monarchie zu gewinnen. Inzwischen intrigiert Sophie weiter und unterrichtet ihren Sohn von Gerüchten, die von einer Affäre des Grafen Andrassy mit Sissi sprechen. Der Kaiser glaubt kein Wort und fährt seiner Frau entgegen. Eine ernsthafte Lungenerkrankung zwingt Sissi jedoch zu einem längeren Kuraufenthalt auf Korfu. Als sie schließlich ihren Mann und ihrer kleine Tochter bei einem offiziellen Auftritt auf dem Markusplatz in Venedig wiedersieht, gewinnt sie die Herzen der Italiener.

The third, and final, part of the “Sissi” trilogy:  Archduchess Sophia still hasn’t come to terms with Sissi being the Empress of Austria.  While Franz Joseph conducts serious affairs of state in Vienna, Sissi is out having the time of her life in Hungary.  With the support of loyal Count Andrassy, Sissi is successful in winning over resistant Hungarian nobles for the Danube-Monarchy.  In the meantime, Sophia continues to intrigue and tells her son of the rumors concerning his wife and Count Andrassy.  The Emperor doesn’t believe a word of it, yet feels the need to travel to his wife.  A serious illness in the lungs forces Sissi to take a long spa treatment on Corfu.  When she’s finally able to take a trip to Italy with her husband and the child, she succeeds in winning over the hearts of the Italians in Venice.
