Auf einer kleinen Nordseeinsel herrscht helle Aufregung: Eine Millionärin ist in Begleitung ihres ältlichen Sekretärs aufgetaucht. Nur warum die Dame ausgerechnet hier Urlaub macht, weiß niemand. Besonders merkwürdig ist auch, dass Ellinor, so der Name der vornehmen Städterin, überall herumschnüffelt. Misstrauisch wird sie von allen Gemeindemitgliedern beobachtet. Aber das Ganze ist nur ein Rollenspiel! In Wahrheit ist nämlich der ältere Herr Sekretär ein Millionär – Jan Remmers heißt er und verließ vor vielen Jahren seine Heimatinsel, um in Übersee Karriere zu machen. Nun ist er zurückgekehrt, will sich aber erst zu erkennen geben, wenn er herausgefunden hat, ob die Gemeinde ihn auch ohne Millionen freundlich empfangen würde.  

There’s a lot of excitement going on on a small island in the North Sea:  A millionairess has shown up along with her elderly secretary.  Now why this woman has decided to take vacation here, of all places, no one knows.  It’s especially strange, that Eleanor, the name of this noble city girl, is sniffing around everywhere.  She is observed mistrustfully by everyone in the community.  But the whole thing is just an act!  In reality, the elderly secretary is the millionaire:  His name is Jan Remmers and he left his home on this island many years before to make a career abroad.  Now he’s returned home; but first, before revealing who he is, wants to ensure, that they’re prepared to receive him just as friendly as they probably would, if they knew he had millions.
