Die erste westdeutsche Filmproduktion nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg, deren Dreharbeiten bereits vor Kriegsende begonnen und 1945 abgebrochen worden waren: In der fertiggestellten Fassung spielt Gustav Fröhlich die Rolle des Architekten Peter, die zuvor mit Heinz Rühmann besetzt worden war. Peters Verlobte Maria lügt chronisch, und verheimlicht ihre kleinen Affären. Um dies zu ändern, wettet Peter, dass er 24 Stunden lang jedem gegenüber die Wahrheit sagen will. Die Folgen sind katastrophal: Peter eckt in zahlreichen Situationen mit der Wahrheit an und landet auf diese Weise schließlich gar im "Irrenhaus".

The first, West German produced film after the Second World War, the shooting of which took place shortly before the War’s end in 1945, but was then cancelled:  In the finished version, Gustav Frohlich plays the role of the architect Peter, which was previously occupied by Heinz Ruhmann.  Peter’s fiancée Maria lies constantly and is keeps secret her small affairs.  To change all this, Peter wages, that he can tell the truth to anyone he runs into for the next 24 hours.  The consequences are catastrophic:  Peter gets himself into tight jams by telling the truth and finally ends up in a madhouse.
