This is the story of the unhappy maid Lena, who falls in love with the furniture mover Franz. When Lena meets Franz' former girlfriend Carla, she tells Lena that Franz will leave her because of her plain clothing. Lena then steals a valuable ring, pawns it and uses the money to buy new clothes. Meanwhile, Carla intrigues further and tells Franz, that Lena is fooling around with another man. When Lena shows up at Franz' in her new clothes, he chases her away. Confused and desperate, Lena wanders the streets.

Die Geschichte des unglücklichen Dienstmädchens Lena, das sich in den Möbelpacker Franz verliebt: Als Lena Franz' ehemalige Freundin Carla trifft, redet diese ihr ein, Franz werde sie wegen ihrer einfachen Kleidung verlassen. Daraufhin stiehlt Lena einen wertvollen Ring, verpfändet ihn und kleidet sich von dem Geld neu ein. Währenddessen intrigiert Carla weiter und behauptet Franz gegenüber, Lena sei mit einem anderen Mann zusammen. Als Lena in ihren neuen Kleidern bei Franz erscheint, jagt er sie davon. Verzweifelt irrt Lena durch die Straßen.
