In the mid-1950s, Mayor Zwischenzahl is assassinated in a West German city on the day of his being sworn into office.  The assassin is the Jewess Ruth Bodenheim, who committed the act to avenge the murder of her parents.  As a functionary in the SA, Zwischenzahl was apparently responsible for the deportation of her parents to an extermination camp during the War.  Ruth never got over her own horrible experiences and the death of her parents and wants to open the eyes of the citizens of the city.

Mitte der 1950er Jahre wird in einer westdeutschen Stadt der Bürgermeister Zwischenzahl am Tag seiner Amtseinführung erschossen. Täterin ist die Jüdin Ruth Bodenheim, die sich mit dem Mord am Tod ihrer Eltern rächen will: Als SA-Mann war Zwischenzahl offensichtlich an der Deportation ihrer Eltern ins KZ während des Krieges beteiligt. Ruth hat ihre schrecklichen Erlebnisse und den Tod ihrer Eltern nicht verkraftet und will den Bürgern der Kleinstadt die Augen öffnen.
