Herr Meier möchte sich einen Lebenstraum erfüllen: Mit dem eigenen Wagen quer durch Europa nach Afrika, um dort den Kilimandscharo zu erklimmen. So packt er schließlich seine Frau und seine kleine Tochter Babsi in den Wagen und los geht’s. Mit dabei im Auto ist auch der junge Architekt Stefan Hellwig, Untermieter der Familie Meier, der seine Vermieter bis zum ersten Etappenziel in Tirol begleitet. Stefan soll dort in der unberührten Natur ein großes Industriezentrum projektieren. Doch in Tirol angekommen, geht für die Meiers alles schief, schließlich strandet die Reisegesellschaft auf einem Berghof. Aus dem geplanten Afrikaabenteuer werden plötzlich Ferien auf dem Bauernhof. Doch was zunächst nach einem Fiasko aussieht, entpuppt sich bald als Segen.

Herr Meier is looking to fulfill a lifelong dream:  He wants to pack up the family and take a car tour through Europe and Africa, ending with a climb of Kilimanjaro.  So he, his wife and small daughter Babsi finally start their adventure.  Along with them in the car is the young architect Stefan Hellwig, a tenant of the Meier family, who’s going to accompany the family to their first stop in Tyrol.  Stefan’s supposed to take advantage of the Austrian peace and quiet to work on the designs for a large industrial project.  But when they arrive in Tyrol, everything starts going wrong for the Meiers, culminating in their being stranded on a mountain farm!  Out of a planned adventure in Africa comes an unplanned vacation amidst Austrian farmers.  But what at first seems to be a fiasco soon turns into a blessing.
